SINALOA "oceans of islands" gatefold LP (purepainsugar / level-plane) - 9 euros
Often compared to the distant early nineties scene of Vermin Scum, Dischord, and Gravity Records, Sinaloa brings the fire of that era's DIY punk and combines it with a grown-up sensibility and a lot of life experience. This is music as lifestyle, and lifestyle as music: deep personal history meets a life in independent music, and the results are a rare breed of idealism and practicality.

AGHAST "consumer" (weewee, ...) - 8 euros

ALTAR OF FLIES/SEWER ELECTION split LP (release the bats) - 9 euro
Two of the best acts currently dwelling in the depths of the Swedish underground scene. Sewer Election should be well-known by now, previous releases includes a split 12" with Incapacitants, cds on Troniks and Chondritic Sound and the amazing Killing-tapes. Altar Of Flies has created quite a buzz over the last year with a huge amount of very limited tape/cd-r releases. On this split LP, Sewer Election contributes with the nasty Rotten Corpse. A crude and disgusting piece. Monotonous, freezing coldness. Altar Of Flies continues with his dark and eerie forest rumblings. Buried claustrophobic lo-fi insanity straight from hell. Heavy outbursts of feedback. Could've been outtakes from an old Dario Argento soundtrack. Mean-spirited ugliness from both bands. (limited to 325 copies)

ALTERCADO "radio rebellion" (lots of labels) - 5 euros
Aggressive anarchopunk from Chile. They are following the South American tradition but with a really aggressive and catchy sound. Altercado also adds some melodic parts that gives it its own sound

ARAB STRAP "The Last Romance" (chemikal underground) - 9 euros
.Dependably laconic, Arab Strap follows the drum machine-clatter and slightly less than typical sneer of 2003's Monday at the Hug and Pint with this, The Last Romance, an instantly thorn-pricked tale 'o' woe. Arab Strap stands proudly here as icons of Scottish miserablism in the throes of love's labors lost. Despondent and furious by turns, Romance opens with the "Stink," a rawly delivered post-coital narrative about burning the now-dirty sheets--of course a metaphor for forceful dissolution, heartbreak, and, ahem, a last romance. Aidan Moffat and Co. conjure a wild, wall of noise here, immersing the vocals in squalling guitars that vie for pre-eminence with Moffat's unmistakable accent. That tangle of guitars and voice recalls Arab Strap's role in the famed "Scottish Guitar Army" (along with their fitful pals, Mogwai) and is fitting for Moffat's lovelorn narrative, written out as if on notebook paper in the liner notes. The story moves from the frothy, post-love bed sheets through squalid settings for drunkenness and tousled lust, to this: "If you can love my growing gut, my rotten teeth and graying hair, then I can guarantee I'll do the same as long as you can bear." Now if that's not a declaration of love's possibility, what is?

ARMY OF FLYING ROBOTS "Life Is Cheap" LP (feast of tentacles) - 9 euro
Brand new album from the UK's best psychotic politicised thrash hardcore band!

THE ASSASSINATORS "Sigt Efter Hjertet" (alerta antifascista) - 10 euro
12 new songs by my favourite band from copenhagen. they deliver us danceable catchy, and melody driven songs with a beautiful female voice. The 12 tracks sounds like a perfect mix between all those hip k-town punk bands (NO HOPE FOR THE KIDS, GORILLA ANGREB) and the french anarcho-punk legend LA FRACTION or also early BAD RELIGION. LP comes with an 32 page booklet in an LP - size and poster!!! www.myspace.com/theassassinators

THE AWAKENING "eternal blizzard" (solar funeral / life under one tree ...) - 8 euros
Long awaited final release. The awakening lasted for a short, two+ years (2000 - 2002) and played nearly 90 shows. This record has 16 songs in total. Lyrically influenced by the rotting culture and environmental devestation of the midwest, and musically influenced by mid 90’s Japanese/Scandanavian hardcore and 80s speed metal, this record includes the Final Feast 7", the Burning Wind 7", the Virginia Black Lung Sea of Steel split 7", and unreleased songs from the final recording. Raw, fast and dark hardcore created with the intent to make ears bleed. All of the songs were recorded on 2" analog tape at mars studios.

BAADER BRAINS “the complete unfinished works of the young tigers” (clean plate / waking ) - 10 euros
Picking up where Please Inform The Captain This Is a Hijack left off, Baader Brains approach harder and faster with their politically infused hardcore, again drawing from samples and sound bites to further develop their world of sound. All collected in a beautiful, colorful package complete with a mini-manual, this is the latest in a long string of incredible bands brought to you by Mike Kirsch, Jose Palafox, et al (Torches To Rome, Bread & Circuits, Sawhorse, Swing Kids, Struggle, Fuel, etc...) This record will blow your doors off, and inspire you for years to come!

BIG BOYS "Lullabies/No Mattter..." 2xLP (x-mist) - 12 euro
X-Mist celebrates its 20-year-anniversary of existence with the re-release of the rare records by the one band that had the biggest influence on our own attitude and ideas! The BEST 2 LPs by the Texas-Punk legends BIG BOYS, including Tim Kerr on guitar (later in bands like JACK O'FIRE, LORD HIGH FIXERS, NOW-TIME DELEGATION and more, currently involved in the TOTAL SOUND GROUP) - And even though the music was recorded more than 20 years ago, it still sounds today as fresh, energetic, inspiring and original as it did back then - one of the VERY RARE things in life that can stand the test of time! TRUE CLASSICS!!! Both LPs, originally released in 1983 resp. 1984, had being sold-out since many years, and now for the FIRST TIME officially(!) available again - packed into one full-color gatefold-sleeve(!) with the original artwork from both LPs, plus a poster-like insert including all the lyrics & photos from the original inserts, plus liner-notes!

BRITO - This Wave Is Only For The Good-Hearted (sncl / degraanrepubliek ) - 9 euros
Debut 12" by this new band from Groningen. Of course there's some fimiliair people in it with members from Los Asesinos de La Superficialidad and Marat. Nothing like these band though. This is way more noisy. Think of the Shotmaker rythm section with the guitars of the Van Pelt. Throw in some Unwound, Red Scare and Jesus Lizard and there's your cup of Brito. This is released in ccoperation with Andy from Sncl.

BURIAL YEAR "pestilence" (adagio 830) - 6 euros
after TAKARU broke up Sean, DuWayne and Aaron had still so much ideas that they can´t stop playing music. BURIAL YEAR was born w/ the help of Dan Light in the Attic on Bass. The 4 piece did an nice US tour and released an 12" on weavin wheat records (the Cd version came on alone records). After that Josh from BULLETS IN joined the Band on vocals and they recorded a full length . If you still remember on TAKARU - take them w/ a little bit less hardcore and a little bit more metal and more breakdowns. So you got a nice mix of all their previous bands that are TAKARU, A LIGHT IN THE ATTIC, RUHAEDA and SUICIDE NATION (mp3)

BILL CALLAHAN - Woke On A Whaleheart (drag city) - 10 euros
Now available on vinyl! So it's finally happened, the man we used to know as Smog or (smog) has ditched the moniker and come up with a full length in honour of it. The big question is, was it worth it? Is the new material really worthy of changing the name, changing the concept? Well the music has certainly changed - we have always been Smog lovers here at Boomkat HQ, Callahan has managed to keep us tranfixed with pretty much every release, and although his vocals are still here in full force, it all sounds rather different. The tempered lo-fi Smog, which pitched Callahan next to his label-mates Pavement, is all but gone, making room for large high-budget productions (maybe an idea he picked up from his lady Joanna Newsom?) and the melancholic downtempo dirges have been replaced by foot-tappin', feel-good anthems. Could it be then that our man has finally found happiness, could it be that Callahan is finally content, settling down with one of the music scene's most desirable characters? Well I think he very well could be, there's a new-found swagger to 'Woke on a Whaleheart' - I mean take a closer listen to 'Diamond Heart', although Callahan's cynical humour in there somewhere buried under layers of simmering euphoria, it's not the same as it used to be. It seems quite brave for an artist this established to shake things up this deep into his career, but it's a move I welcome with open arms. Callahan is promising bright things from this album, and long may he continue to reinvent himself - he is without question one of the scene's most gifted, engrossing characters. "Woke On A Whaelheart" is a hazy wilderbeast of an album to be best enjoyed in the sunshine, get down and sing along - you know Bill would be proud. Highly Recommended

CAPSULE "blue" (robotic empire) LP+CD - 10 euros
Wrapping one’s head around what exactly CAPSULE is doing on their debut album Blue is damn-near impossible, as these three post-ADD maniacs have created one of the strangest heavy-music albums in years. This is a confounding conglomeration of blasting time-signatures, galloping punk spirit and a ghostly vocal chorus that buzzes through a mountain of guitar and bass. No other band sounds like Miami’s trio CAPSULE, just as CAPSULE sounds like no other band.
Blurry, buried shouts in unison are surrounded by absolutely thunderous songs, played at speeds with every tempo in the "punk" and "metal" spectrums. Intricate melodies in bizarre tunings sneak their way into an overall unnerving amalgamation of genres, creating an anxiety-filled album of fevered beauty. Of course, this is coming from a label who writes release descriptions typically loaded with hyperbole, but we still say with full confidence that this is one of the most unique and interesting albums Robotic Empire has released to date.
Attempting to keep up with the packaging precedence set by Miami brethren TORCHE’s "In Return" 10"+CD release, CAPSULE’s Blue only comes as two formats together, with a deluxe gatefold jacket housing both a CD and 12" vinyl record. A high-gloss spot varnish accompanies this full color, die-cut gatefold jacket with printed black interior. The minimalistic design perfectly contrasts CAPSULE’s varied creations on this simply stunning debut.

CELESTE "nihiliste(s)" (denovali) - 9 euros
this is the follow up to their pessimiste(s) ep, and also their first full length. twice as long, twice as mean and twice as good. you can download the full album here!

CHINESE TELEPHONES / POTENTIAL JOHNS (geeky git) - 9 euros
The inaugural release on FLOYD's Cheeky Git label gets you the raucous punkin' of CHINESE TELEPHONES and POTENTIAL JOHNS (JEFF of the MARKED MEN). "Milwaukee's Chinese Telephones start with a super catchy tune that, coincidentally, is a dead ringer for a Face To Face song (you guys are so busted) and continue on with a whole side of powerful, tuneful punk with hook-laden choruses. This is no wimpy '90s pop-core, though. These dudes know how to stay drunk and punk as fuck. The Potential Johns is the solo project of the Marked Men's Jeff Burke, so it sounds like, well, you know, the Marked Men...but a little less rock 'n' roll, and a little more Clorox Girls-esque. It's all very vocal-driven-maybe a little too much, to where you feel like you getting pummeled by catchy vocals-but why complain about that? At last this long-awaited record gets its official release

COBRA NOIR “barricades” (yellow dog) - 6 euros
Gnashing of teeth is the end result of this harsh, crusted-over mindfuck of reckless sonority. And that's a compliment. Cobra Noir explores the bitterest angle of hardcore music, torturous and vile. The rumbling sounds of "Walled In" and the spirited venom of "Ruptured" assail the senses with an unforgiving sonic bludgeoning. Fans of Cursed and Mare will revel in the dissonant, saturated sounds of cuts like "Monuments" and "The Arsonist." It's cuts like these that expose the grimy underbelly of hardcore music, one that is far removed from the candy apple claptrap that often passes off as such these days. Production-wise, this record is quite low-fi and it suits the music well. From punked-up, start-stop mayhem to almost-crusty speedpunk, these black cobras strike with the intent to kill. So they do on the reckless, spiraling out of control facebasher "Against Us" and the attitude-laden "Come Crashing." Mind you, some will be put off by the sound of this record, so make sure you enjoy the most underground sounds before following through and picking this one up. But if filth and Drano-throated fury is exactly what gets you off, Barricades is one to seek out

COLDBRINGER - Lust and Ambition LP 9 euro
"Eight song 12" EP. For those of you not familiar with Coldbringer, they feature members of From Ashes Rise, Hellshock, Call The Police, the Del Toros, and Talk Is Poison. They play a style of melodic hardcore that draws from influences like Naked Raygun, Leatherface, Husker Du and the Wipers, but is all their own at the same time." I’ve been getting a fair number of records these days with hand-screened covers and the Coldbringer LP has some striking artwork. A stingingly melodic punk sound that sounds like a cross between Born Dead Icons’ doomy sound with Leatherface’s tuneful properties. Vocalist John Wilkerson (formerly with From Ashes Rise) has Frankie Stubbs’

COMADRE / TRAINWRECK "split" (react with protest, heart on fire) - 9 euros
More loud, chant-filled, heart-felt, and punk as fuck tunes from COMADRE. You know how intense this band can be if you ve seen them live. TRAINWRECK wrote some of the heaviest shit ever fort his release – dark and intense hardcore that draws from their old band eaves as well as uranus or his hero is gone! This is packed in a special awesome gatefold jacket for maximum pleasure! Enjoy!

CORRUPTED "paso inferior" (adagio 830) - 9 euros
FINALLY REPRESSED!
THE PASO INFERIOR LP is about 30 minutes the CD was 41 minutes.Corrupted re-recorded and remixed this new record in 2002. Side one is like the theme from the cd just it's like about 15 minutes short...and in my opinion it sound much better than the orginal from 1997. The B side....which still reads as 1 track of the LP but feels more like a second track is about 16 minutes and is more heavy spheric... without vocals ...and there is anything like that on the CD fom 1997.
Japanese underground icons Corrupted create droning, sludgy, painfully slow death/doom metal and ambient music along the same lines -- or should that be trenches? -- as bands like Earth, Boris, and Sunn O))). Formed in Osaka, Japan, circa 1994, the reclusive group is comprised of vocalist Hevi, guitarist Talbot, keyboardist Takehito, bassist Jose, and drummer Chew, and has issued an inordinate number of singles, EPs, split discs, and full-length albums over the years (including 1997's Paso Inferior, 1999's Llenando de Gusanos, and 2004's Se Hace por los Suenos Asesinos) -- but always under their own idiosyncratic terms. These include holding anything remotely resembling rock stardom in utter contempt, mysteriously writing all of their lyrics in Spanish, and refusing to even take promo shots, so that the only known images of the group are those snapped by fans at their concerts. Adding to this uncompromising reputation, Corrupted released a 70-minute piece of music as their fourth long-player, 2005's El Mundo Frio. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, All Music Guide
This is not a vinyl Press of the cd from 1997. It's a new recorded and remixed album from Corrupted. The LP comes with a black on black cover.

DAMEZUMARI / FIRE TEAM CHARLIE "split" (rok lok) - 9 euros
DAMEZUMARI play a brand of technically minded mid west emo/post punk that is a cross between Off Minor and Life at These Speeds. On the flipside FIRE TEAM CHARLIE plays raw anthemic post punk that should appeal to fans of Sinaloa or True North.
Lp comes w/ screenprinted covers and a nice booklet - worth checking out!

DEADWOOD DIVINE (aka tom lomacchio) “s/t” (altin village) - 6 euros

DEFIANCE, OHIO “the great depression” (no idea) - 9 euros

DILLINGER FOUR " Situationist Comedy" (fat wreck) - 9 euros
WWD4D? And what the hell do they mean by "situationist comedy" anyway? Well, the joke's on you if you think this record is anything short of brilliant. Adorable little girls, firearms, primates, and sonic terrorism...genius!

DILLINGER FOUR "Versus God" (hopeless) - 9 euros
The refreshing second album from Minnesota's unlike-the-others punk rock superbites gets running. Fueled by booze, humor and a strong chemical imbalance, the band continues their rich tradition of blazing punk antics, obscure social commentary and psychotic behavior, all in a style that brings new meaning to the term "energetic." Go and get you some.

DIMLAIA "s/t" (stonehenge / destructure) - 8 euros
Repress of the 2004 "Life is abuse" CD. With ex-HHIG member gone on an experimental trip ala Godspeed You or Yeti may be. Good stuff!

EASPA MEASA / SILENCE "split" (sadness of noise) - 9 euros
mp3 : silence | easpa measa

EMPTY SILOS ECHO WAR "Semantics" (rok lok) - 6 euros
The full length vinyl companion piece to the "Mechanics" CD is a sonic exploration in lingering melodies, textural soundscapes and the extrapolation of minimalistic song structures. Empty Silos Echo War is easily one of the most interesting bands to ever come from Long Island channeling the sounds of a more energetic Godspeed! You Black Emperor with the avant garde expermentialism of Steven Reich to create a sound that is unique to the ever so talented members of this band. Rok Lok's first LP release is a split release effort with The Children's Revolt and The Tone Library Collective. Awesome hand screened covers in variety of different colors.

THE ENDLESS BLOCKADE "turn illness into a weapon" (superfi) - 7 euros
This Canadian band features ex-pat Andy Nolan, who served time in such legendary UK bands as Ebola and Shank. This new lot have been described as a mix of Crossed Out and Corrupted. The CD version is out on [Sound Pollution] Records, and the artwork is by Brian Livoti, who also plays in the awesome grind band [Watchmaker]

FALL OF EFRAFRA "elil" 2x LP (alerta antifascista) - 12 euros
fall of efrafa follow up their 2006 album "owsla" with "elil" the second installment in the trilogy known as "the warren of snares". elil is a maelstrom of crushing epic emotive hardcore, post rock and doom metal, taking influences from the likes the neurosis, his hero is gone, isis and god speed you! black emperor. 3 songs, more than 60 minutes recording

FLATLANDS / SUNSHINE REPUBLIC "split" (superfi) - 5 euros
Flatlands are seriously heavy in a stripped-down Isis style, which monolithic, catchy riffs crashing into each other and plenty of screaming. Two quite long songs from them. Sunshine Republic are on a more experimental tip, reminding these ears of House Of Low Culture, though there are elements of doom, post-rock and noise in the mix too. They contribute one really long song.

FORENSICS "hogback sessions mountain vol.I" (tuned to you) -5 euros
This is a pretty fucking unusal record for Forensics. This is not standard Forensics rock fare by any means. It's pure audio experimentation done y the band and various friends of theirs, locked away somewhere in the countryside. All material was conceived, culled, and recorded on the spot

GANTZ "la chambre des morts" (impure muzik, 213 records, maldoror) - 8 euros
GANTZ plays a dark and intense music leaving free court with its emotions. The crystalline arpeggios succeed the chaotic hammerings to give life to pieces melancholic persons being able like BREACH, ENVY, ISIS. Now with the loss of their singer, and guitar player Joss singing, their music is going more instrumental than their previous releases, including influences of post-rock and mathrock like FROM MONUMENT TO MASSES. The lyrics are very personal, drawn from the everyday life, and various experiments, imbroglio of feelings and perpetual questionings on becoming it of humanity

GASMASK TERRÖR "st" (ratbone / la grand macabre) - 8 euros
12 new songs of heavy & raw d-beat hardcore punk inspired by the likes of Totalitär, Discharge, and classic Swedish kängpunk. GHOSTLIMB "bearing and distance" (adagio 830) - 9 euros
This is the second installment by this powerful three piece from LosAngeles. Ghostlimb deliver 11 songs of powerful solod in your face hardcore w/ a melodic edic age that reminds sometimes on Born Against. They are fast and angry and they want to give you a kick in your ass so you start to think about stuff again and not just care about boring stuff like friendship. If you care – Ghostlimb features Justin from Graf Orlock and two other rad kids that have their heart in the right place.
All records come in a wonderful gatefold cover w/ an awesome layout by Adam Hunt an dof course on colored vinyl. Stay angry

GHOSTLIMB “s/t” (adagio 830) - 9 euros
FINALLY AVAILABLE ON VINYL as one sided etched 12" w/ screen printed covers
Ghostlimb is the brainchild of Graf Orlock's main songwriter and riffmonger Justin Smith and these eleven songs make up their debut release. The songs are less grind than those of Graf with more of a Catharsis, Swallowing Shit, and His Hero Is Gone influence and the band has toured up and down the west coast alongside groups like Owen Hart and Greyskull

GLÖS “harmonium” (adagio 830) - 9 euros
It all started as a few music file transfers from laptop to laptop in a van while touring Europe as the band Engine Down and ended as a full-blown album of musical compositions by means of the Internet from opposite corners of America. Glös started as Keeley Davis (former frontman of Engine Down and bass/synth player for Denali and currently Sparta) and Cornbread Compton (former drummer of Engine Down, Biology, and currently Heavens). Many years of playing in Engine Down together proved the duo had a naturally unique style of meshing melody and rhythm. When the discovery of song creation on computers became a reality, the two found strength and freedom in writing separately and then collaborating. Adding to each other's songs as if they were created mutually in the same room was natural and noticeable. After collaborating on over 20 songs and never having physically played the songs together in a rehearsal environment, the duo decided to take even more advantage of the freedom that this style of writing offered. They invited Keeley's sister Maura Davis (former frontwoman of Denali) to join the project and to add her beautiful, sultry vocals to the songs that already seemed perfect for her. If it weren't for file sharing, none of the songs would have grown into the theatrical landscapes that they have become, since each member was working on different projects full-time in Texas, California, Virginia, North Carolina, and Illinois. Assistance in recording drums was provided by Ben Lovett's studio in Los Angeles and Black Iris studio in Richmond, VA, to obtain quality without losing time. After two years of writing and refining, Glös has its first album entitled Harmonium. Keeley Davis sums it up best: "Our longtime relationship with Lovitt Records allowed a sister, brother, and dear friend from opposite corners of the country to create a record without boundaries via independent creativity and the Internet."

GRINDING HALT "prookjeshof" (de graan republiek, rwp, shove) - 9 euros
Heavier, more guitars, more noise. Basicaly everything GH was on the split with Vuur but with more. whatever that means. Anyway if you like Majority Rule, Artimus Pyle, Unruh, Orchid and Uranus we think you might like this.

HEAVEN IN HER ARMS "erosison of the black speckle " (ape) - 9 euros

HERO DISHONEST - When the shit hits the man 9 euro
"When The Shit Hits The Man" consists of 26 minutes and 21 tracks of raging hardcore punk thrash that doesn't limit itself to just being fast at all times but also knows when to slow down and to bring in the widest influences from the 30 years of punk history. The band doesn't just speed up the old school Black Flag riffs but also nods its head towards both old and new innovators like Big Boys and Wrangler Brutes.

HOT CROSS "risk revival" (paranoid / level-plane) - 7 euros
After the inevitable implosion of the volatile punk and hardcore movements of the 80's, post-hardcore was born. These musical evolutions represented a more melodic and musically thoughtful direction from artists and scenes that had outgrown their primal aggression. Similarly, when members of Saetia, Neil Perry and You and I (among many, many others) banded together to form Hot Cross, their output took a step forward in the evolution of the genre those bands helped establish. While the acts from which the band was formed may have been more than a bit removed from early hardcore, Hot Cross takes many of their musical cues from that first wave of post-hardcore acts like Fugazi, Drive Like Jehu and Quicksand. The songs are aggressive and melodic but the chord progressions and arrangements often defy the conventional standards by which those terms are measured. Risk Revival is the band's second proper full-length album and their first in almost four years.
Fans of Cryonics shouldn't be disappointed by the direction the band has gone in this time around, as Hot Cross has stuck in many ways to the formula that made that album a success. There's very little gloss or studio sheen on Risk Revival, in keeping with the band's past approach to recording, but there is a bit more depth to the sound captured here. The sound is just as genuine but somehow fuller and it's evident when comparing the two albums side by side. Former guitarist Josh Jakubowski helmed this recording and his familiarity with the group definitely seems to have paid off. While the album had apparently been recorded with Mike Hill (of Anodyne and Versoma), it was apparently re-done, largely for performance reasons, and that decision seems to have been a good one as well. Unlike many bands that play this fast-paced chaotic brand of rock, Hot Cross have recorded their latest album with equal amounts of charisma and precision. Guitarist Casey Boland's work admirably fills the potential void from the departure of Jakubowski. Billy Werner's vocals remain distinctive, even if there aren't as many immediately memorable lyrics this time around.
The disc begins with a Spanish-style guitar interlude before blasting into opener "Exits and Trails." The track perfectly embodies what Risk Revival is all about with its sensibly continuous guitar themes playing out over varying tempos and unassumingly powerful melodic vocals accenting Werner's always-intelligible shouting a la Ian MacKaye. "Turncoat Revolution" kicks things up a notch in intensity and supplies some of the disc's most thought-provoking lyrics. What especially stands out about Risk Revival is its ability to sound cohesive without ever settling into a predictable groove. It's a record that won't let the listener forget that it's on and demands one's attention. Carefully placed drum hits, new riffs and off-time backing vocals, as in "Cardiac Silence," can be jarring but always ultimately fit and make sense in the song.
The only real shortcoming to be found in Risk Revival is the apparent refusal to step outside the band's comfort zone. I'm not surprised to hear a dozen great songs from Hot Cross after four years. I am surprised however that in four years the band's members haven't pushed themselves a bit farther. They may not have needed to fix what wasn't broken, but logically, this album doesn't quite have the impact that Cryonics did when it was released. "Silence Is Failure" might sound drastically different than the rest of the album with its crawling pace and layered tracks, but its ultimately just a slower version of what Hot Cross has done before.
Bottom Line: Hot Cross' Risk Revival is another in a line of great releases and a suitable follow-up to Cryonics. Strong performances, fitting production and generally high quality songwriting make up for the stylistic complacency the band exhibits on their sophomore LP. This record was one of my most anticipated releases for years and it didn't disappoint. Risk Revival is one of the first truly exciting albums of 2007.

ICOS "fragements of sirens" (alerta antifascista) - 12 euros
Icos hail from Gothenburg, Sweden where the collective was founded in 2001. After two years of songwriting and rehearsal they did their first liveshows, followed by some great performances throughout sweden and denmark during the winter, spring and summer of 2004. The summer of 2004 where spent in the studio, recording and mixing their long-awaited debut full-length. Icos brings you powerful, devestating and intense music filled with tuned-downed guitars, thundering drums and over the top vocals that molds together with more quiet, ambient parts. Both music and lyrics are delivered with talent, ambitiousness and a never-failing integrity. Expect inspiration and influences that range from Neurosis, Catharsis to His hero is gone and Kyuss to Isis.

INDIAN SUMMER "discography" LP (adagio 830) - 9 euros
Do you remember the days when emo actually meant to be emo?! There has been a couple of bands like EVERGREEN, CONSTANTINE SANKATHI, ORDINATION OF AARON that gave you goose bumps while listening to them. One of them has been Indian Summer. There has been no other band like Indian Summer that created that kind style so unique. Since all there old releases are kinda ebay gold and it seems like kids still care about their music – we thought it would be a nice thing to make all their songs available on vinyl since a lot of CD discographies came out ovet the years. So here we go – all there songs remastered for the first time on vinyl in a long time. Every record comes w/ inlays and a nice poster, printed w/ silver ink. Just beautiful.)

THE INFARTO SCHEISSE! "s/t" LP (erode) - 5 euros
hese guys play fast and heavy hardcore and manage to pull off everything with extreme tightness and brutality. The vocals are high pitched, but still have a blood gargling sound to them. Frenzied time changes and intense drumming... Think something like Uranus, Takaru and Reversal of Man.

IRE "i discern an overtone of tragedy in your voice" (mountain) - 9 euros
Ire creates monstrous, desolate slow-motion nightmares out of drastically down-tuned guitars, roaring vocals, and painfully dragged tempos. These songs are genuinely eerie. A little double bass and even a blastbeat. And just how slow is Ire, you ask? Well, this LP is a half-hour long, and that's just four songs

ISIS "in the absence of truth" 2XLP (robotic empire) - 14 euros
The logical expansion of ISIS' multiple personalities yield "In The Absence Of Truth", their latest monster full-length. It only makes sense that the 'atmospheric' parts are even more haunting (yet, uplifting) and the 'heavy' parts are even more brutal and crushing. However, it's hardly an album of polar opposites, with the fluidity only achieved by a band who's been consistently developing like this for nearly a decade now. The increased amount of actual singing really makes a difference on the more mellow moments, but widespread experimentation with new elements reaches far beyond the vocals here. Appropriate usage of unique tones, leads and overall surprising song-structures culminate with nine tracks of ISIS' most impressive work to date. "In The Absence Of Truth" really is an astounding album, with a maturity displayed that leaps from their past into amazing uncharted waters of heaviness. Robotic Empire is honored to supply this gatefold, double-LP vinyl edition of ISIS' latest masterpiece

JIYUNA "the devil is waiting ..." (ifb) - 7 euros
Jiyuna plays hardcore that is heavy, melodic, and passionate with odd time signatures. Influenced by stuff like Frail, Envy, Raein, old Cave In, and some (good) metal. Creative packaging as well.

KAKISTOCRACY "s/t" (les nains aussi ... ) - 6 euros
After several EP and split releases and two US tours, Ashville NC's KAKISTOCRACY's brand of anarcho-punk has mutured into the powerful and complex sound represented by their first full-length release. A limited run of 300 copies were available for their 2004 US tour, but complications prevented a full pressing until now. Those lucky few who have heard the tour edition copies, will soon be joined by the the up until now uninitiated intheir apperciation for how original and fresh sounding this band is.

LUZIFERS MOB “discography” (crucificados) - 9 euros
this legendary german hardcore, grind, powerviolence outfit existed from 1992 to 1996 and at that time they were one of those famous european counterbalance to the so called powerviolence scene in the states where bands as crossed out, no comment, lack of interest did shape this type of music .. this discography contains songs from the "close your eyes and see death", "whispers", "die human race", "plot", "up for grabs" compilations, the rare demo, the 7" and the split lp with golgatha .. all in all 50 songs .. all lp's come with an extensive booklet and the original poster from the golgatha split .. only 500 copies were made .. so hurry up to get your hands on this masterpiece .. essential stuff

MANIFESTO JUKEBOX - Strain LP 9 euro
Their 3rd LP. Raging punk rock with fine melodies and intelligent lyrics from this finish punks.

MEET ME IN ST LOUIS "Variations On Swing" (denovali) - 9 euros
mmisl threaten to bust the temperature gauge with amazingly explosive, off-kilter drumming that cap'n jazz would have been more than proud of and a million searing riffs that hark back to the irregularity of at the drive in and blood brothers. it is this heady combination of influences, despite the lack of a discernable beat, which sends half the crowd into spasmodic judders - they seem to be dancing but it looks totally involuntary. the other half of the crowd simply stands there transfixed with their mouths open

MENEGUAR “i was born at night” (Narshardaa) - 9 euros
After years of touring under the Sheryl's Magnetic Aura moniker, Jarvis Taverniere, Jeremy Earl, Christian DeRoeck, and Justin Bones Wertz returned home, collectively craving a fresh start as a new band. Legitimate friends for many years, it just didn't make any sense to change members or take any particularly drastic measures. So they simply changed their name, signed a lease on their own 2-level shanty in NYC, moved in together, and set to work on writing and recording their debut album as the refreshed and totally refocused Meneguar. "I Was Born At Night" is a harmonious melding of frantic energy and thoughtful composition; songs that beg to be heard, blared, and sung over endlessly. Taverniere's incredibly eloquent and image-laden lyrics are delivered flawlessly atop both playful and soaring, driven melodies that quickly find a home in the mind and mouth of the unsuspecting listener. Universal themes of survival, uncertainty, and hope permeate 7 brilliant songs marked by creative musicianship that seamlessly blends the catchy pop of many an Omaha contemporary while harkening the gritty attack and glorious withdrawal of Archers of Loaf. As well for fans of Built To Spill, Van Pelt and Modest Mouse.

MENY HELLKIN " amputation day" (213 records, impure muzik ...) - 8 euros

MÖNSTER "arms" (day after) - 6 euros
To surprise of many people, Moenster from Berlin are the newest band on Day After. This fairly new band was formed two years ago people formerly active in Highscore, Born Dead Icons, Insuciety and "Costa's Cake House" who all stayed in Berlin at that time. What was originaly meant as some sort of project became a regular band which was quicky noticed by punks worldwide through their debut 12" "Death Before Disorder", out in 2005 on Sabotage Records. Fast hardcore with notable Scandinavian/Portland sound, good measure of rocking riffs and a classic straight forward hardcore feel which probably comes from the fact that most of the boys have been in hardcore/punk bands the last 10-15 years. The new Moenster record called "Arms" captures the equal urgency of debut record, but also absorbed more melodies and slower songs, which provides them this certain passionate, European flavor. Album comes in a special diecut LP cover and inner sleeve

MOUNT LOGAN "s/t" (vendetta) - 9 euros
2 monumental songs, mastered by james plotkin ( khanate, phantomsmasher ) the most hopeless and destructive doom / drone you’ve ever heard; these 3 guys from wuerzburg / germany mix the destructive atmosphere created by bands such as GRIEF with the monotonous elements used by EARTH ! they somehow remind me of switchblade as well, but more brutal ! there must be a fucking desert in Wuerzburg... a desert where the sun never rises but the soil is cooking... join these three doom-punks on the ride to the light we will never see... and let them break some of your bones.

NEW IDEA SOCIETY “the world is bright & lonely” LP + CD (altin village) - 9 euros
New Idea Society is centered around its main creative force and songwriter Mike Law. For the last year and a half Law has been working on what he describes as the culmination of his recent projects, an album with no past, present, or future tense. With a lyrical maze and thumping urgency
"The World Is Bright And Lonely" highlights the excitement and energy the band possesses at shows as it was recorded totally live in the studio (yes vocals too) with almost no overdubs. Now with a full time band of Santos Montano on drums (Old Man Gloom, Zozobra), Chris DeAngelis on Keyboards and Super-Producer Andrew Schneider on Bass (Victory at Sea, Pelican, Unsane etc.) mp3

THE NOW-DENIAL - Mundane Lullaby 9 euro
Finally, 3 long years after „viva viva threatening“ came out, the now-denial deliver their 3rd album „mundane lullaby“. And it´s no surprise, it is a big step forward. They come closer and closer to capture their live-energy on a piece of plastic. The sound is very good, still dirty, but powerful and huge like a bulldozer, with love for the detail, which makes it fun to listen to the record over and over again to smell the diesel and find something new with every listening. Yeah, it´s still a hardcore/ punk record, it´s still pissed off, but the limitations are gone. There is rock every now and then and it suits them well. And it´s good to hear a real 2nd guitar again. On top of 12 great
songs, varied in speed and mood, you get a well thought out lsd-influenced cover artwork with rabbits and flowers and lyrics that are far away from your average punk-cliché, but still angry and to the point. A record like a journey on the road to nowhere, armed with a smile and a middlefinger up in the air, always pretending to have an insane masterplan up the sleeve.

ON THE MIGHT OF PRINCES "where you are and where you want to be" (rok lok) - 7 euros
In teaming up with our friends at Eugenics Record Label to make the On the Might of Princes reissues a reality we have been able to bring "Where You Are and Where You Want to Be", which is an absolute masterpiece to be a part of the Rok Lok discography and I for one couldn't be more thrilled. "Where You Are & Where You Want to Be" is one of the best 48 minutes of music ever commited to tape and is an absolute must for anyone's collection. Years before screamo became the popular movement that it is today On the Might of Princes was treading those grounds and leaving an impression like no other. Originally released by Creep Records and the legendary Traffic Violation Records, this deluxe reissue of "Where You Are & Where You Want to Be" has been remastered and has had three bonus tracks as well as multimedia section with a video and a link to a site with exclusive content-video, streaming audio and photos. This deluxe reissue comes with a beautiful 24 page booklet that is wrapped up in a striking UV coated O-card. This album is chaotic, it is driving, it is dynamic and above all it is cathartic experience like no other. Mixing post punk influences of Fugazi, Cursive, and Unwound with the screamy hardcore styles like Saetia or Raein, On the Might of Princes created music that needs to be heard. This has been one of my favorite records of all time.

PEDESTRIANS - "Ideal Divide" LP 9 euro
The Euro pressing of this fine Punk Rock LP. Aggressive, straight forward punk rock from Chicago with a solid rhythmic foundation and lots of melodic guitar parts and catchy vocals.

PEDRO THE LION “Achilles Heel” (Jade Tree) - 9 euros
the charmingly named Pedro the Lion consists of singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist David Bazan, sidekick TW Walsh and James McAllister of labelmates Ester Drang on drums. Specialising in political, lyrically complex portrayals of the ashes of the American dream, Achilles’ Heel is an album about human frailty and the complexity of everyday emotions. After two albums functioning around concept narratives and revelling in a certain musical heaviness, this latest effort sees Bazan and co attempting to de-clutter their music, limiting lyrical themes to one track only, and stripping out much of the musical baggage that perhaps encumbered earlier work

PERTH EXPRESS "harrow and wealdstone" (vendetta) - 9 euros
6new songs and a monumental black heart procession cover song ! If you like this new Doomriders/Lords stuff mixed up with some TRAGEDY and older MASTODON - this will burn your ears. Its BRUTAL and the sounds is just amazing !

PYGMY LUSH "mount hope" (adagio 830) - 9 euros
Pygmy Lush, whose members have cut their teeth in some of Northern Virginia's most influential hardcore bands of the last decade including Pg.99, Majority Rule, Malady, City of Caterpillar and Crestfallen, return with their much anticipated second full-length, Mount Hope. Pygmy Lush formed in the spring of 2005 on the very day two of their previous bands, Malady and Mannequin broke up. They started out by carrying on much of the same ferocity of their previous endeavors but a massive change was afoot. Somewhere in their early practices they had started four-tracking several quieter songs with acoustic guitars and minimal percussion. Their first record, Bitter River (Robotic Empire), was noise-punk tracks mixed in with some of the quieter songs. Those more restrained songs, which had at first been an aside, began to over take the set. Mike Taylor explains, "We liked the quiet stuff so much that we decided that our next plan was to write an entire quiet album." The sound suites them. The songs feel haunted. Still filled to the brim with a sense of abandon, only here they have put down their angst for introspection, traded their aggression for a slow grit. Not bad for a bunch of punks. Taylor continues, "We have not stopped playing or touring and we are all sick in the fucking head with music." It shows.
Mount Hope was recorded at Godcity by Kurt Ballou (Converge) and mastered at Silver Sonya by TJ Lipple (Aloha). The band plans on touring the U.S. & Europe extensively in 2008 to support the record.

PYGMY LUSH "bitter river" (robotic empire) - 8 euros
Sterling, Virginia's PYGMY LUSH debut with an album serving as the culmination of every influence these fine young men have ever had, all wrapped around each other to create what essentially sounds like a seasoned band covering a solid mixtape. Bitter River is 16 songs that span nearly the entire underground/independent music spectrum... ranging from tracks that sound like THE BLACK HEART PROCESSION to BORN AGAINST to TOM WAITS to THE JESUS LIZARD to BOB DYLAN to ONE EYED GOD PROPHECY to NIRVANA to ... you get the picture, right? This is an incredibly varied album but it works surprisingly well, as the five fellows of PYGMY LUSH have cut their teeth on some of Northern Virginia's most influential punk/hardcore bands of the last decade or so including PG.99, MAJORITY RULE, MALADY, CITY OF CATERPILLAR, CRESTFALLEN, HISSING CHOIR and many more.

QUETZAL “Dead End Tracks” (Interstellar) - 8 euros
After a mysterious void and temporary pit-stop QUETZAL obviously refuelled their abilities, delivering their second full-length album. Dead End Tracks was recorded and mixed during 2000 and 2001 by Glenda Lange and Elko Blijweerdt, who previously worked with Front 242, Dead Man Ray, Rudy Trouvé. This album is open and spontaneous, intense and delicately fragile at times, quetzals music grabs you with their blend of wholehearted rocking walls of guitar and their subtle, touching approach to melody and harmonies, adding beautiful cello and violin arrangements. Quetzals 3 vocalists take the breath out of you with their astonishing and intriguing way of singing, this music is real, they've shared stages with their contemporaries: Kepone, At-The-Drive-In, Milemarker, Hot Water Music, the Ex... -Have been touring with various bands such as Submission Hold, At-The-Drive-In, Milemarker, Monochrome, The Ex and more?

A new album split between two experimental rock faves. Los Angeles’ MAE SHI tackle six tracks of DIY spazz-pop, while Bloomington, Indiana’s RAPIDER THAN HORSEPOWER run over nine tracks of post-hardcore and screamo release. For fans of Deerhoof, Ex-Models,

RATS INTO ROBOTS " a column of snakes..." (slave union) - 5 euros
3/5 of the mighty To Dream of Autumn carry the torch into 2004, but those expecting a sound that simply picks up where TDOA left off should prepare to be blown away. What awaits is a new, uglier, more furious sound with scathing vocals and thunderous instrumentation all around, more akin to bands like His Hero is Gone or Uranus, but with a slightly more technical feel.

RINGERS "Curses" (1-2-3-4 go ) - 9 euros
Boston based Ringers play some of the most direct, driving, anthemic, honest and heartfelt punk, devoid of pretense and eyeliner, that you're likely to hear this year. They'd hate to know I said that but it's true. Ringers is everything I look for in a band, poignant lyrics you can identify with, rough hewn melodies that move you, and an amazing live show to bring it all together. Fans of bands like Against Me!, Hot Water Music, Kid Dynamite and Dillinger Four should definitely take notice. Features former members of The Insurgent, Speakeasy and Melee.

RUMBLE IN RHODOS "own me like the city" (anomalie) - 6 euros
Stylistically full of dynamics, playful guitars, among a yanking, diverse and high pitched singer are some of their aesthetic qualities. With danceable melodies, upbeat and brash rhythms this can easily be run several times troughout its runtime. Close to bands on the French Kiss, Sound Virus roster
mp3

NORTH "siberia" (6-600) - 9 euros
This is the limited vinyl pressing of the NORTH full length w/ a handmade embroided cover, limited to 450 copies
North is a slightly metal inspired, centrally post-rock quartet who calls Tucson, Arizona home. Siberia marks the band's foundation before releasing their upcoming full-length, entitled Ruins. In terms of how deep they find themselves down the rabbit-hole of instrumental bleakness, it wouldn’t be a stretch to say North are probably the most engaging post-rock band I've come across since, let's say, Pelican. But, sadly, that doesn't stop them from being slightly run of the mill.
Far from the metaphysical release we see basement-dwelling post-rockers cum over year after year in endless Blogspot rehashed pages, but a shoe-in for those "Honorable Mention" spots near the bottom of the rankings. Not to say North is a C-list band. Though relatively unknown, their fluidity and general grandeur outplays some of the bigger dogs the public eye has unfortunately failed to look past. Simply the finale of the closing track “Body Abandoned would sway even the most close-minded listener. However expect no new execution to come from Siberia as North more or less cookie-cuts the typical instrumental-epic most of us have heard just about as many times as we can count on two hands. Creativity is a downer, but these guys have a charisma all their own.

SOAR “Dachboardengedanken” (Swing Deluxe) - 5 euros

SOFY MAJOR "s/t" (diy) - 6 euros
Sofy Major is a french noisy hardcore band playing in a DIY way. We are proud to support alternative movements and subcultures and we'd really like to make more and more people get the keys of the DIY Punk ethic to avoid contributing to institutions.

SOUVENIR'S YOUNG AMERICA "s/t" (protagonist) - 8 euros
...huge convoluted riffing, strange mathy rhythms, thick swells of sound, killer, complex, emotional, and heavy. Long stretches of dark brooding ambience, blissed out rhythmic shimmer, warm guitars over martial drums, slow building guitar jangle over mesmerizingly propulsive drumming, slippery slide and minor key melodic finger picking, there's really nothing not to love. The guys take a sound that's becoming more and more tired and turn it inside out and upside down... intense and alive and vibrant and super exciting

SOUVENIR'S YOUNG AMERICA "s/t" (e-vinyl) - 7 euros
Monstrous instrumental post-metal from Richmond, Virginia, a mixture of spare NEUROSIS/GODFLESH informed heaviness and cinematic post-rock like GODSPEED YOU! BLACK EMPEROR or EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY. Really good stuff, very pretty at times, and heavy n' crushing at others. These songs are heavily layered, masterfully assembled instrumental creations, emotionally moving and majestic like RED SPAROWES, filled with dense shoegazer buildups and gorgeous droning electronc swirl, massively heavy prog-rock dirges and sludgy piano-accompanied rock, never descending into boring noodling or overextended jams. The whole album sounds like a soundtrack for a killer lost road-trip movie scored by members of NEUROSIS and GODSPEED YOU! BLACK EMPEROR doing a weird mix of 70's prog and biker rock, and 80's soundtrack metal, but with all sorts of forays into lonesome, dusty country guitar-twang, long droning expanses of floating electronic drones, supremely beautiful and often super-crushing !!! This is absolutely a must get for fans of heavy instrumental ambient metal/post-rock and soundtrack-influenced heaviness (ZOMBI, CHROMELODEON). Very very highly recommended!!!

SITUATIONS "pressure is a pleasure" (yellow dog) - 6 euros
PUNK. Listen up, this LP is really good Punk Rock! SITUATIONS from the capitol city berlin deliver their first full-length via Yellow Dog Records. Imagine a mix of recent scandinavian bands like YOUNG WASTENERS, classic ’80s L.A. sound and classic german punk stuff like TORPEDO MOSKAU. SITUATIONS emerge from this fertile musical ferment to deliver some totally off the hook punk with tunes that will stick in your head. This 14 track album sounds way more 80’s than most 80’s punk records. It realty doesn’t sound like anything else, although there are some obvious touchpoints, but these guys put their own personality all over it. Worth tracking! This is a limited, handnumbered pressing of 500 copiesdown-tuned, distortion was cranked up, and a powerful, sub-harmonic, rhythm section lay down unearthly grooves.

THE SPECTACLE "i, fail" 2LP (great northern / smart patrol) - 12 euros
Just one year after the release of their first full-length, The Spectacle have once again re-invented punk rock with their latest release "I, Fail." For those of us who fell in love with their last album, this will not let you down, firing through some of the darkest, most furious and poetic songs we've heard in a long time. With their dynamic guitar layering, a devastating rhythm section, and a plethora of different vocal styles that shred beautifully over the dark tones of each track, these six boys from Norway have made a record with a kind of passion and energy that is unmistakable. We are very excited to be able to release this record, and we hope it will give you the courage and inspiration to create your own music (and a new world) like it has us. mp3

SCULL HAZZARDS "let them sink" (rejuvenation) - 9 euros

THE THIRD MEMORY "et de celà rien ne ressort" (rok lok) - 7 euros
It was almost two years ago when I received a number of releases from the French label, Impure Muzik, as part of a trade to distribute their releases here in the States while Joss over at Impure Muzik distributed Rok Lok releases. While all of those releases I received from that trade were very enjoyable the one that struck me the most was a CD by The Third Memory titled “et de cela rien ne resort”. I was simply blown away by the visceral power displayed in the music. It was a chaos that I found hypnotically beautiful. Right around the same time, especially through my intense networking and trading routines I became obsessed with European hardcore, namely the passionate bands that were sprouting up all over France- Belle Epoque, Daitro, Gantz, Iscariote, Amanda Woodward, and so many others. But for me personally The Third Memory was at the top of that list. In the last few years I have felt American DIY punk/hardcore has become rather stagnant in terms of creating anything new or even modifying things a bit. Bands seem to be frozen in time, and while The Third Memory isn’t reinventing the wheel they have put their own unique spin on screamy hardcore. So with my love of European hardcore unable to be contained I wanted to do release something that would not only document my love for the band but my love for European hardcore but also to document the strength of the DIY international network because fact is if I never traded records with Impure Muzik I would have never heard The Third Memory. Enter our buddies Ryan and Roy at I’ve Come For Your Children, another label who values international networking as much as international music. When I decided I wanted to issue “et de cela rien ne resort” it was an absolute no brainer to co-release this project with them, and in the end it proves that the DIY network can work in the United States if we leave our desire to cash in on the scene behind. The music- The Third Memory excel at laying down passionate screamy hardcore that takes cues from bands like La Quiete, Tristan Tzara as well as Orchid. The emotion conveyed through the twelve scorching tracks on this album tears down any walls that language my place in front of us. This is hopefully the first of many European bands to be released on Rok Lok and I am honored to share The Third Memory with everyone. This LP pressing contains a non CD bonus track. beautifully screened covers and inserts.

THIS IS MY FIST "A History of Rats" (no idea) - 9 euros
The stunning debut album from THIS IS MY FIST is finally out! For those in the know, this record is much anticipated. Originally recorded a year ago with Tim Green (Fucking Champs, Nation of Ulysses) at Louder Studios in San Francisco and assisted by Adam Pfffthhthfffttaler (Jawbreaker, Blackball Records), the tapes were lost, found, transferred and ultimately remixed by Craigums (Love Songs, All you Can Eat) at Dutch Oven Studio in Alameda after Annie recorded more guitars and vocals to round out the sound. What you get is 100% sincere, aggressive yet melodic Bay Area California punk, drawing from regional bands of the past as well as those of Annie's past in Chicago-area Illinois, notably topped by Annie's raspy cigarettes-and-whiskey stained voice; falling somewhere between Joan Jett and the Avengers!

TITAN "the chrysantemum pledge" (react with protest) - 7 euros
this is ex i spoke and panserbjorne hailing from canada! heavy destructive hardcore with influences from uranus, buried inside or june paik!

TORCHE "s/t" (robotic empire) - 9 euros
Once described as "stoner pop", Miami quartet TORCHE could just as awkwardly be called "doom pop" or "thunder rock"... but what all these clumsy words boil down to is simultaneously one of the catchiest AND heaviest bands to ever grace the worlds of metal, indie and underground music in general. Sound like hyperbole? TORCHE actually has their own patented "bomb string" tuning which is literally unparalleled in heavy music (past or present) and they use it liberally on this, their self-titled debut full-length album.
Easily the heaviest record Robotic Empire has released to date, never has a "metal" album existed quite like the mind-blowing debut release from TORCHE. Hinted at by members' former group FLOOR, truly anthemic, triumphant and absolutely massive heavy metal has never been this undeniably catchy! With gloriously sung, harmonized and soaring vocal arrangements accompanying the most monolithic riffs of modern times, TORCHE reaches to push the envelope and then engulfs it in flames. Call it "stoner pop"or "exquisite brutality"... call it whatever you want. In the end, TORCHE are still a major force to fuck with, and undeniable leaders of an incredible new style of heavy music.
This is the deluxe, fully re-mixed and re-mastered edition of TORCHE's debut album... which has been completely reworked from the ground up due to the band's overall dissatisfaction with the original release. This new version is a much more accurate representation of the band with an even heavier (and clearer) mix than the original, also containing an all new bonus track originally recorded during the initial tracking (but only recently receiving some absolutely epic vocal treatment) and expanded artwork. Robotic Empire is genuinely proud to re-release this incredible debut album!

TOWERS “s/t” (react with protest) - 7 euros
This is some really heavy shit – TOWERS is a sound explosion bursting with feedback & noise. Their sound falls somewhere between OLD MAN GLOOM, ISIS and a pinch of ORCHID in the mix.

TUNGUSKA / THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL "split" (sadness of noise) - 9 euros
The Bold and the Beautiful started in autumn 2004 with a few members of punk bands from Lublin area (AntiChrist, Silence, G.C.M., Poem After Auschwitz, Unanimous Society's Paradox, AntiCop), cause guys were just pissed off on polish specific lifestyle, political madness, religious frauds and attitudes of scene gestapo/scene merchandise of some dumbs. They had an idea to connect fast and angry punkrock with old style sarcasm in the vein of early '80 hardcore and with political but not always deadly serious lyrics. In total - two guitars, two screamers, one bass and one drums. They call it Gitwa Punk and if you like Siekiera (a polish old punk "legend") you know what they mean - fast and furious crusty powerviolence, aggressive and in your face. On the other side of the split you find Tunguska - Irish/Polish hybride with heavy and dark monumental neocrust mayhem. Totally devastating and powerful wall of sound in the vein of Silence, FAR, The Dagda etc

VAGUE ANGELS "let's duke it out at kilkenny kats" (red cars go faster) - 7 euros
Vague Angels is fronted by Chris Leo, who originally began the project in 2004 as part of his book, White Pigeons. The album "Truth Loved" (released on Fifth Planet Press) functions as chapter seven of the book, in which Vague Angels play the fictitious role of The Breaks.
In 2006, "Let's Duke It Out at Kilkenny Kats'"(Pretty Activity) became Vague Angels second release. "Kilkenny Katz" features a more minimalistic acoustic approach, as opposed to the earlier "Truth Loved". "Kilkenny Katz'" will share themes with Chris Leo's second book entitled Fifty Seven Octaves Below the Middle C Buzzed by the Bee.

VERSOMA "life during wartimes" (robotic empire) - 8 euros
With the four members of VERSOMA having done time in the underground groups LICKGOLDENSKY, ANODYNE, HOT CROSS, ORCHID and more, one would imagine this debut EP to be all blistering chaos and screaming madness. But with the passing of time and eras comes great new leaders in music's vast extremities and Life During Wartime is a fine exception to the problem of most 'supergroups' just repeating themselves, or others. The influence of independent and alternative music's glorious past is undeniable on this six-track, 18-minute EP, but with plenty of pent-up aggression and passion left over from years in the punk/metal/hardcore underground, VERSOMA construct a very unique and vicious brand of rock music. It's a wall of guitars mixed with desperate, wailing and haunting vocals; darkness mixed with simplistic genius, and the manic quality control of three different label owners involved. Recorded at Translator Audio in Brooklyn with band-member Mike Hill and mastered at West West Side with Alan Douches, the first sonic offering from VERSOMA is an exciting step towards uncharted audio territories, and an excellent indication of things to come. mp3

VIOLENT MINDS "we are nothing" (deranged) - 9 euros
Hot on the heels of the release of "Eyes Of Death," "We Are Nothing" is another representation of this band's raw, dirty street punk-influenced hardcore played with the same speed and ferocity as old bands like Lifes Blood or even the straightforward hardcore thrash of Poison Idea. Now available on vinyl.

VÖMIT FOR BREAKFAST "s/t" (d'ici à la réalité) - 8 euros
the first full length for the most japanese band from St Etienne ! Super fast hardcore in the vein of Bastard, Nightmare and Gauze with low and raw vocals and crust touch !

VUUR / GRINDING HALT "split" (hof / shove / degran republiek) - 8 euros
VUUR (meaning "fire" in Dutch) are from Belgium. With this record they offer 7 new song recorded with their new singer. Heavy screamo violence music, dark hardcore, all mixed with crust music, and punk ethic. VUUR a like in a chaotic heavy mix of AcMe, Drop Dead, Rorschach, Reversal Of Man, a bit of Mörser and a shot of Born Against.
On the other side of this 12inch is the Dutch band GRINDING HALT. Already known to be the band with ex-singer of Shikari, and ex-guitar player of The Last Mile, and other current and ex-members of. Like many bands in Groeningen. Grinding Halt is mixing fast hardcore punk parts with heavy, almost stoner/sludge part. It is the perfect mix between heaviness and fast hardcore.

WITCHES WITH DICKS “manual” (kiss of death) - 9 euros
Witches With Dicks sounds like a band named on a dare and they probably were. Nevertheless, they have a better chance of upping the ante for punk rock in 2007 then any of their cautiously named counterparts. The intelligent yet snotty anthems on their debut album, Manual, should silence any doubt. Loosely influenced by bands like Screeching Weasel, The Replacements, Jawbreaker, and The Lemonheads, they have scratched their own niche in the Boston punk scene with the help of other local bands/friends such as Ringers, Conversions, and Lock And Key.

WRANGLER BRUTES "The Tape" LP (x-mist) - 9 euro
This is THE vinyl-version of the 16 tracks, recorded prior to their "Zulu" album (KILL ROCK STARS), and until now having been only available as a cassette! And of you think "Zulu" was great, then you'll be amazed how INCREDIBLE these 16 songs are! Listening to Hardcore-Punk now for more than 20 years, there's hardly anything (if anything at all!) in this genre that really blows me away and gets me totally excited... but these tracks surely did so! It's like a perfect combination of early BLACK FLAG with VOID (the legendary DC-band), all transferred into the 21st century, or like a mix of BORN AGAINST with MONORCHID/SKULL KONTROL!
Almost forgot to mention it, the WRANGLER BRUTES feature the following persons: Sam McPheeters (BORN AGAINST, MEN'S RECOVERY PROJECT), Andy Coronado (MONORCHID, SKULL KONTROL, etc...), Brooks Headley (UNIVERSAL ORDER OF ARMAGEDDON, YOUNG PIONEERS, BORN AGAINST, etc...) and Cundo Si Murad (DEATH DRUG, NAZTI SKINS)!

WRECK OF OLD '98 "s/t" (lots of labels) - 8 euros
Wreck Of Old '98 were a trio that emerged from the exceptionally close-knit and vibrant Southampton, UK scene. Though only existing for a short time, they managed to record a clutch of fine songs (15 of which are collected here) and played around the UK and the Netherlands before Ross left to study in Australia. Sound-wise, imagine influences such as Shoutbus, The Minutemen, Assfactor 4, End Of The Century Party, Reactionary 3, Big Boys and Black Flag, coupled with incisive, intelligent lyrics

XBXRX “Sixth In Sixes” (polyvinyl) - 9 euros
Love them or hate them, you'll never forget them. Over the years, xbxrx's style of joyous musical assault has been championed by the likes of Sonic Youth, Peaches, Unwound, Mr. Quintron, Deerhoof, and Q And Not U, all of with whom the band toured. They've also worked with such accomplished producers as Steve Albini, Ian MacKaye, Vern Rumsey, and Tim Kerr. On this release, xbxrx reveal a newfound musical growth and maturity, mating a post-hardcore guitar onslaught with articulate experimentation and intense, cathartic vocals to create a relentlessly modern rock music that's as chilling as it is invigorating.
